In the realm of metallurgy, bronze encompasses an alloy primarily constituted of copper, alloyed with specific metallic elements to enhance its properties. These alloying elements intricately define the characteristics and classifications of bronze, comprising:
Tin bronze │In tin bronzes, the tin content typically doesn't exceed 20%. The inclusion of tin enhances the alloy's strength but diminishes its ductility. While ductility reduction is moderate up to 5% tin, it accelerates significantly thereafter. Consequently, cast bronzes tend to have higher tin content compared to those intended for deformation processing. Strength generally increases until around 15% tin, beyond which it starts to decline. Common alloy compositions for tin bronze include CuSn6, CuSn8, CuSn10, CuSn12, CuSn14, and CuSn20.
Aluminum bronze │ Alloys of copper with aluminum and other accompanying elements, such as manganese, nickel, and iron, are commonly termed aluminum bronzes in practice. These alloys typically contain up to 11.5% aluminum. With an increase in aluminum content in the Cu-Al alloy system, tensile strength rises, reaching its zenith at approximately 10.5%. However, deformability diminishes with increasing aluminum content up to 2%, followed by a subsequent rise, peaking at around 8%. Standard alloy compositions for aluminum bronze include CuAl9, CuAl10Fe3, CuAl10Fe5Ni5, and CuAl11Fe6Ni5.
Bronze exhibits exceptional resistance to both corrosion and abrasion, rendering it highly suitable for demanding applications such as heavily loaded sliding plates, bearings, pressure fittings, high-stress clutches, gears, crane wheels, and the like.
Bronze is crafted into solid or hollow cylindrical bars, with lengths not exceeding 500 mm and diameters spanning from 20 to 300 mm. These prepared components undergo machining to exact specifications (within a 1-2 mm tolerance) before reaching the final dimensions tailored to the customer's requirements.
In addition to standard profiles, we are capable of providing machined bronze according to the technical specifications provided by the customer.
